Elon Musk delays trip to India due to Tesla commitments

Elon Musk, the CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX, had plans to visit India next week for a number of important meetings, including one with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the announcement of Tesla’s plans to build a factory in the country. However, due to heavy obligations at Tesla, Musk has postponed his trip until later this year.

During his visit, Musk was looking forward to meeting with leaders of Indian space tech startups, including the co-founder of Skyroot Aerospace. In addition to Tesla, Musk is also the CEO of SpaceX and X. Reports suggest that he was considering an investment of $2 to $3 billion in India for the new factory.

The original schedule for Musk’s trip coincided with India’s democratic election, which commenced just after it was announced. With an estimated 960 million eligible voters in the country, the election is expected to last over a month. Current Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to secure a rare third consecutive term during the upcoming election.
