Science Day at Delmarva Christian Schools Ignites Young Minds

On March 14th, Delmarva Christian Schools hosted a Science Day celebration, coinciding with Pi Day. The event was specially designed for elementary and middle school students to help them develop a deeper appreciation for science through hands-on experiences and practical applications of scientific principles.

The elementary and middle school director of instruction, Jessica Hague, emphasized the importance of dedicating half a day to science activities. She explained that the primary goal was to enhance students’ learning and cultivate a love for science by providing immersive experiences that promote critical thinking and demonstrate the practical relevance of scientific concepts.

During the event, students were fully engaged in a variety of activities aimed at fostering collaboration and sparking a passion for science. Elementary students participated in a rotation of activities, moving between teachers and classrooms throughout the afternoon. They enjoyed creating root beer floats, making raisins dance using the carbon dioxide fizz from a soft drink, and experimenting with Oobleck.

Meanwhile, middle school students focused on applying Newton’s laws of motion to build balloon-powered cars. This hands-on project not only reinforced classroom learning but also encouraged creativity and problem-solving skills among the students. Delmarva Christian Schools remains committed to providing holistic Christian education by incorporating innovative learning approaches to benefit their students.
