Elizabeth Dekkers, World Championships Medalist, Sets New All Comers Record in 200 Fly with a Time of 2:05.20

At the 2024 Australian Open Championships, Elizabeth Dekkers set a new All Comers Record in the 200m fly event, clocking in at 2:05.20. This was a new lifetime best for the 19-year-old swimmer, surpassing her previous record of 2:05.26 set in 2023. All Comers Records represent the fastest time ever recorded on Australian soil by any swimmer from any nation.

Dekkers’ success at the Australian Open Championships was not just limited to breaking her own record but also winning gold in the event. She finished ahead of Olympic medalist Brianna Throssell who finished as the runner-up with a time of 2:06.98, followed by Abbey Connor who took the bronze in 2:08.09.

Despite her impressive performance at this year’s championships, Dekkers remains ranked third among Australian all-time performers in the 200m fly event and fourth overall this season.
