65 Venezuelans expelled from Chile for criminal activities and immigration violations.

On Friday (3), 65 Venezuelans were expelled from Chile by the government, who were sent back on a chartered flight. Out of the 65 individuals, 55 had committed crimes while the remaining were expelled for entering the country without a regular passport. This move by the Chilean government reflects their determination to address such issues, stated Luis Eduardo Thayer, director of Chile’s National Immigration Service.

In the past year, Chile has expelled a total of 411 immigrants from various countries. Out of this number, 208 were expelled administratively for violating immigration rules and 203 were expelled for legal reasons. In April, it was revealed that the murder of former Venezuelan lieutenant Ronald Ojeda Moreno, which occurred in Chile in March, was planned in Venezuela. Investigations pointed towards the involvement of criminal group Trem de Arágua operating under the protection of dictator Nicolás Maduro.
