TTUHSC celebrates the graduation of its newest health care professionals

On Saturday, May 4, Texas Tech Health El Paso is hosting commencement ceremonies for graduates of the Hunt School of Nursing and the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The ceremony for the Hunt School of Nursing will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Starlight Event Center, while the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. at the Medical Sciences Building II.

Texas Tech Health El Paso has made a significant impact in addressing the critical nursing shortage in the region. The institution’s yearly economic impact is $634 million, highlighting its transformative role in El Paso. Around 90% of nursing school graduates choose to practice within the Borderplex region after completing their education, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to providing innovative education that meets the needs of local healthcare professionals.

The Hunt School of Nursing ceremony will celebrate 72 students who have earned their bachelor of science in nursing. The school’s Dean, Stephanie L. Woods, Ph.D., R.N., will give this year’s keynote address, while Board of Regents member Pat Gordon will deliver remarks. This ceremony marks a significant milestone for these graduates as they start their careers in healthcare and make a positive impact on their communities.

The Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will honor 29 students who have shown exceptional commitment to advancing biomedical research and sciences. Diego Pedroza, Ph.D., an alumnus of the school, will be the keynote speaker for the ceremony, further emphasizing the institution’s dedication to fostering excellence in scientific research and innovation in El Paso and beyond.
