Four workers sustained electrical burns while repairing underground cables.

On May 8th, four workers from the Cho Lon Electricity Company sustained severe burns while working on repairing electricity at an underground cable line in District 8. The incident resulted in a fire and explosion that left the workers with life-threatening injuries.

The most severely injured patient was a 28-year-old male who suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body. He had burns on his head, chest, abdomen, limbs, and eyes. Emergency doctors provided pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans for the patient.

The other three patients included a 46-year-old man with burns on his head and face, a 37-year-old man with burns on his ear and hands, and a 37-year-old with burns on his hand and ankle. They were treated for pain relief and tetanus prevention before being discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital reported that the prognosis for the most severely injured patient was still difficult due to the extent of his burns. The department is currently working to restore as much function as possible to his damaged body parts through extensive surgeries and rehabilitation programs.
