Sols 1089-1090: Stimson Shines Brightly

On Sol 1089, we will be performing a range of activities on Mars. The main activity will involve dropping off part of the Buckskin drill sample to SAM for analysis. In addition to this, we will also be dumping the Buckskin post-sieve sample and conducting APXS analysis on it. To document the dump pile, Mastcam and MAHLI imaging will be conducted.

On Sol 1090, we have planned several ChemCam observations to investigate the bedrock and local alteration features in the region we are exploring. The targets for observation include “Fox Hills,” “OBriens Creek,” and “Bearpaw.” We will also acquire a large Mastcam mosaic to document the stratigraphy of the area. Furthermore, a Navcam deck pan will be conducted for dust monitoring purposes.

I am excited about this weekend’s activities on Mars as we plan to capture stunning new mosaics that showcase the beauty of the region we are exploring. I am particularly looking forward to seeing how these new images will help us better understand the geology and history of this fascinating planet.
