We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Gregory Schmidt as our new European business editor. Greg’s impressive background in journalism and his experience as an editor and writer in the Business department in New York have prepared him for this exciting new role.
Greg’s expertise spans news and feature story writing, editing, and managing a live blog. In his new position, he will collaborate with reporters across Europe to cover European economies, clean energy transition efforts, and escalating trade tensions. He will also contribute to news coverage from Seoul and provide valuable insights before the New York office gets up.
Greg began his career in 2007 when he joined The Miami Herald after seven years of work. His interest in writing about technology and video games led him to specialize in tech coverage. His experience on the Square Feet column since 2017 sparked his interest in real estate reporting, which eventually led to a reporting fellowship at Columbia University.
Originally from Southern California, Greg earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa before pursuing graduate studies at the University of Florida. We welcome Greg to our London office and look forward to seeing his contributions as our European business editor.
