The American Cancer Society has reported that the Black community in the United States has the highest death rate and shortest survival for most types of cancer. In response to this, the Phoenix chapter of The Links, Incorporated is hosting a Black Wellness Family Expo to educate people about their diagnosis and promote awareness of various health conditions. The event will take place at South Mountain Community College near 24th Street and Baseline Road and will include free health screenings, mammograms, car seat safety checks, access to health care information and services. Participants will also receive a free lunch. Registration is available at blackfamilywellnessexpo.org.
In addition to sharing stories of kindness and good deeds in the community on azfamily.com’s Something Good page, if you know someone or a business that deserves recognition for their efforts, you can share their story on the website by clicking ‘Share Your Story’. If you have a photo or video of a breaking news story, you can submit it with a brief description on the site as well. Copyright 2024 KTVK/KPHO. All rights reserved.
