Hamas is contemplating Israel’s offer for a ceasefire and hostages

According to a senior Hamas official, the organization is considering a proposal from Israel for a ceasefire in the Gaza war and the release of hostages. Khalil Al-Hayaer shared this information on Telegram on Saturday, stating that Hamas will review the proposal and provide a response. The Israeli submission was in response to Hamas’ position, which had been conveyed to Egyptian and Qatari mediators on April 13th.

Israel is pressuring Hamas to reach an agreement quickly in the indirect negotiations regarding a ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages. Reports suggest that if an agreement is not reached soon, Israel may continue its announced ground offensive in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli media sources, the latest talks between Egyptian and Israeli representatives were focused on a limited agreement with Hamas, involving the release of some female, elderly, and sick hostages.

The duration of a potential ceasefire will be tied to the number of hostages released by Hamas, as per reports from Israel. However, Hamas is looking for a permanent ceasefire, which Israel is not willing to accept at this time. It’s worth noting that several topics unrelated to the Gaza conflict were mentioned in recent news articles including articles on blood transfusions
