Founder of Boothbay Sea and Science Center to give a presentation at Boothbay Region Garden Club meeting

Boothbay Sea and Science Center (BSSC) founder and executive director, Pauline Dion, will be speaking at the upcoming monthly meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Boothbay Harbor. This event is open to the public, and refreshments will be available for attendees to enjoy.

Pauline Dion is a passionate advocate for nonprofit organizations and an engaging speaker who has chaired fundraising efforts for various organizations and serves on the boards of several local nonprofits. With a background in nursing and a focus on adult oncology, Pauline brings a unique perspective to her work with BSSC. She is also a lifelong sailor and has been involved in chairing the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Junior Sailing and Tennis programs.

The BSSC is dedicated to providing a community sea and science education center that offers affordable and accessible programs to youth between the ages of 5 and 17. Through activities like sailing, boating, and marine science, BSSC aims to provide hands-on learning experiences that are not widely available through other organizations in the region. The center offers a range of innovative education programs that focus on experiential learning, opening up opportunities for students, instructors, teachers, instilling lifelong skills creating pathways to careers in STEM fields while collaborating with marine businesses, schools social service agencies and marine research organizations with Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences playing a key role in program development.
