Promoting What Bainbridge Has to Offer to Support Small Businesses

The Downtown Development Authority of Bainbridge has reported that there are 125 businesses located in the downtown area, which collectively employ around 500 people. Despite concerns about the number of vacancies on North West Street, local businesses are striving to attract more customers and boost sales.

One way that Bainbridge shoppers can support small businesses is by simply spreading the word. By sharing information about local businesses and encouraging others to shop there, residents can help keep the doors of small businesses open. In a recent broadcast, business owners emphasized the importance of word-of-mouth advertising in attracting customers.

Factory Connection, a small business located on the outskirts of downtown, is one such business that is seeking community support. Assistant manager Kristin Smith expressed concerns about the store being overlooked due to its location. Despite being in the heart of the city, Factory Connection does not benefit from the foot traffic that downtown attractions bring in. This has prompted Smith and others to find creative ways to promote the store and increase customer traffic.

The Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce has been actively encouraging locals to support small businesses by engaging in activities like liking, commenting, and sharing posts on social media. This has proven to be an effective strategy for businesses like 6J Scrubs, which saw a boost in sales during its grand opening last year thanks to promotions shared by the chamber.

In addition to social media campaigns, the Downtown Development Authority offers grants and connects business owners to developers for low-interest loans. However, there is still a need for business owners to come up with innovative ways to attract customers and increase foot traffic in their stores. By reaching out to resources like the National Small Business Association, the Downtown Development Authority, and the local chamber of commerce, business owners can learn more ways to promote their businesses and keep them thriving.

Local shoppers can play an important role in supporting small businesses by simply spreading awareness about them through word-of-mouth advertising or social media campaigns.
