Six Blackhawks Set to Compete in 2024 World Championships

The 2024 IIHF World Championships are set to begin on Friday, with six Blackhawks players representing their respective countries at the annual international tournament. During the preliminary round, which runs from May 10-21, all 16 participating teams will play seven games, with the top eight advancing to the knockout stage. Seth Jones and Alex Vlasic will be representing the U.S. at the World Championships, contributing to a third of the American team’s blueline.

Connor Bedard (Canada), Philipp Kurashev (Switzerland), Petr Mrazek (Czechia), Lukas Reichel (Germany) and Seth Jones (USA) are some of the Blackhawks players who will be competing in this year’s tournament. The tournament is hosted in Mrazek’s homeland of Czech Republic spanning Prague and Ostrava. Fans can watch select action on NHL Network throughout the competition.

Jones, who is attending his second consecutive Worlds, previously served as the U.S captain and has made five overall appearances at the tournament including a bronze medal win in 2015. In 28 games across four tournaments, he has recorded four goals and 16 assists while Vlasic makes his debut at Worlds after representing USA at U18 and U17 levels most recently at U18 world junior championship in 2019
