‘Amazon Prime Video Announces World Premiere Date for ‘Betty La Fea’

Amazon’s Prime Video is set to launch the sequel to the Colombian telenovela that inspired ABC’s Ugly Betty, titled Betty la Fea, the Story Continues. The new series will follow Beatriz Pinzón Solano 20 years after the original show, as Betty navigates rebuilding her relationship with her daughter Mila and confronts challenges in her relationship with Armando.

Produced by RCN Estudios for Prime Video, the series will see Ana María Orozco reprising her role as Betty, alongside Jorge Enrique Abello and other returning cast members such as Julián Arango, Natalia Ramírez, and more. Joining the cast are Rodrigo Candamil, Juanita Molin, Zharick León, and Sebastián Osorio.

Betty la Fea has been a global success since its original airing in 180 countries and being dubbed into 15 languages. It has also been adapted in 28 territories, including India, South Africa, and the U.S. After the original telenovela run, RCN produced a sequel series in 2001 while Ugly Betty ran for four seasons on ABC. Telemundo also produced their own version in 2019 titled Betty in NY.
