Bethlehem Catholic High School sophomore earns spot on United States world wrestling team

Keanu Dillard, a sophomore at Bethlehem Catholic, has earned a spot on the U.S. Under-17 Freestyle wrestling team. He will be representing the United States of America in Amman, Jordan. Dillard, a two-time PIAA 2A champion, secured his place on the team by winning the 55-kilogram (121 pounds) class at the U17 world team trials during the U.S. Open event in Las Vegas.

In his final match against Slater Hicks of Valencia, Calif., Dillard won with a score of two bouts to zero in the best-of-three final. His opponent did not manage to score any points against him and Dillard won both bouts with scores of 6-0 and 4-0 respectively. This victory brought his overall record for his sophomore year to 41 wins and only five losses.

The U-17 world championships will be held in Amman, Jordan from August 19th to 25th. Dillard’s participation in this prestigious event is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling. We congratulate him on this amazing achievement and wish him the best of luck as he represents the United States on the world stage.
