Galan Riley has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Casualty, at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) in Canada. Known for providing general liability, lead umbrella, and excess liability insurance across various industries, BHSI is making this change following the retirement of Darryl DeSouza, who spent nearly a decade with the company.
In his new role, Galan will be responsible for managing all BHSI casualty lines in Canada, including energy, products, general casualty, commercial auto, construction, contractors professional, and pollution liability. With over twenty years of experience in underwriting casualty risks in the Canadian market, Galan joined BHSI in 2014 as Assistant Vice President, Energy Casualty and was promoted to Vice President in 2019.
Kathy Reid, Head of Casualty North America at BHSI praised both Galan and Darryl for their roles in the growth and expansion of the casualty team and business over the past decade. She expressed excitement about working closely with Galan as he takes on his new leadership role and wished Darryl all the best in his retirement.
