40 Border Posts Installed Along the Armenia-Azerbaijan Border

The Armenian government has recently installed 40 border posts on the Armenia-Azerbaijani border as part of coordinate adjustment works. While expert groups from both countries are continuing their work, the exact amount of territory that has been demarcated has not yet been officially confirmed. On April 23, the border demarcation commissions of the two countries began determining coordinates based on geodetic measurements on the ground.

As per agreements made by the commissions, some parts of the Tavush-Kazakh border will be aligned with the existing inter-republican border that was in place at the time of Soviet Union’s collapse. In this process, Armenia will retreat in several directions including Baghanis-Ayr, Ashagh and Askipara, Kheiriml and Ghezilhajili villages. However, this does not currently involve Armenian territories in front of Berkaber which are under Azerbaijani control and the section of interstate road next to Voskepar which remains under Armenian control.
