Apple Revisits the Use of OpenAI Generative AI Technology for Upcoming iPhone Enhancements

Apple Inc has resumed talks with OpenAI regarding the use of their generative artificial intelligence technology for new features on the upcoming iPhone, Bloomberg News reported on Friday. The potential agreement could see OpenAI’s features integrated into iOS 18, the next iPhone operating system.

Both companies have not yet provided any comments in response to media requests about the discussions. Last month, Bloomberg also reported that Apple was discussing the possibility of licensing Google’s Gemini chatbot for new iPhone features. However, Apple has not made a final decision on which partners to use and could potentially collaborate with both OpenAI and Google or other providers.

While competitors like Microsoft and Google are considered faster in implementing generative artificial intelligence technology, which can create human-like responses to written prompts, Apple is investing heavily in this field. In February, CEO Tim Cook mentioned that the company was investing significantly in this technology and would share more about its plans to incorporate it into their products this year.
