Good Girl Brewing Company set to debut in Aiken on May 7

Aiken is set to welcome a new addition to its vibrant scene as Good Girl Brewing Co. prepares to open its doors on May 7. Situated at 880 Banks Mill Road S.E., the brewery will offer a range of craft beers brewed on-site, as well as an array of delectable food options. The establishment will occupy a renovated building that was previously home to Found Treasures, an antiques and collectibles store that closed in 2020.

The ownership team for Good Girl Brewing Co. comprises Andrew and Rachael Phifer, along with their friends Paul and Morgan Batton and Rachael’s parents. The journey to launch this project has not been without challenges and expenses, including zoning permits, material costs, loan approvals, and construction delays. However, the team has remained committed to doing things right and to the best of their abilities, resulting in a project they can take pride in.

In other news, Powderhouse Apartments in Aiken has recently changed hands as Maki Developments LLC acquired the property for $2.3 million on March 19. The transaction involved the transfer of ownership of the multifamily residential complex located at 3037 Old Powderhouse Road from its previous owner to Maki Developments, a newly formed company based in New York. Earlier this year, the property changed hands when it was sold for $104 million by South Carolina-based firm First State Realty Advisors LLC after nearly two decades of operation.

Meanwhile, Dollar General Store at 132 Rudy Mason Parkway in Aiken has introduced a selection of fresh produce for sale following its recent remodeling efforts. With the addition of fruits and vegetables to its offerings, Dollar General aims to be a positive business partner and a good community neighbor in Aiken according to Matthew Simonsen, senior vice president of real estate development.

These developments are shaping up Aiken’s commercial landscape with new businesses coming up while some are being sold or relocated.
