Kris Letang battled major health issues during the 2023-24 season

Pittsburgh Penguins’ star defenseman Kris Letang has been facing significant health issues throughout the 2022-23 season. Despite these challenges, he led the team in ice time for the 11th consecutive season. However, with a second opinion on his health, Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas hinted that Letang may need to undergo surgery.

Letang’s resilience and dedication to the team have been evident throughout the season, as he played through numerous injuries without missing a single game. His impressive stats and contributions to the team’s success were crucial in their success during the tail end of the season. Letang took “maintenance days” between games to manage his health issues but remained a key player for the Penguins.

The upcoming 2023-24 season will be Letang’s first full 82-game season since 2011, showcasing his determination to make an impact on the ice. As he approaches his 37th birthday, Letang continues to be a crucial player for the Penguins, with several years still remaining on his current contract.
