18 Indicted in Arizona for Allegedly Falsifying Trump Election Victory Certificate

In the American electoral system, states play a crucial role in determining who becomes president. The party with the most votes in a state’s presidential election takes all of its local delegates to vote in the Electoral College. This is exactly what happened in Arizona in 2020, where Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden by 10,563 votes. However, this didn’t stop 18 people from being indicted by a grand jury for allegedly participating in a scheme to falsely certify Trump’s victory in Arizona.

The complaint alleges that 11 Trump supporters met at a December 2020 meeting to sign a certificate stating that Arizona’s 11 delegates were eligible to vote in the Electoral College, despite Biden having won the state. After signing the certificate, they sent it to the state Republican Party headquarters and shared it on social media before sending it to Congress and the National Archives. Those charged include Kelli Ward, state legislators Anthony Kern and Jake Hoffman, Michael Ward, Tyler Bowyer, Greg Safsten, Jim Lamon, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Moorhead, Nancy Cottle, Loraine Pellegrino and others whose names have not been disclosed yet.

One of those indicted whose identity was not revealed is Ted Goodman who serves as spokesman for Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani. The legal proceedings highlight ongoing concerns about the 2020 presidential election and its implications. It is important for states to uphold their electoral duties and ensure that their electoral votes are accurately counted to avoid any confusion or controversy.
