On this World Day of the Sick, we come to you Lord Jesus Christ seeking your mercy and compassion for those who are suffering in body, mind, and spirit. We entrust them to you and pray for your grace, strength, peace, and hope to sustain them through their trials.
As we reflect on their pain and suffering, we also lift up those who care for the sick and the elderly including doctors, nurses, volunteers and family members. We ask for your blessing upon them for their generous service and selfless love. Protect them from harm and fatigue so that they can continue to bring comfort and healing to others. Let them know the goodness they bring into the world through their work of love and service.
We also pray for leaders of nations and those in the scientific community that they may work together towards a common goal of promoting a culture of solidarity and fraternity. May they strive towards a world where everyone has access to healthcare, where illness, poverty, violence are overcome. Through Mary’s intercession we ask for the grace to follow your example of love and service as faithful witnesses of your Gospel in the world so that we may share in your glory in heaven. Amen
