Woodbridge High School Swim Teams Shine at Spring Meet of Champions, Zara Masud and Jacob Wang Earn Top Honors

Recently, the Woodbridge High School swim teams made a huge impact at the Spring Meet of Champions held at Mt. SAC in Walnut. The girls team clinched the first-place title, while the boys team finished third in their respective divisions. Coach James Hickson commended both teams for their impressive performance, which led to an overall victory for Woodbridge High.

Senior Zara Masud stood out on the girls team, winning the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events, earning her the title of Swimmer of the Meet. Meanwhile, senior Jacob Wang was a top performer on the boys team, securing first place in the 50-yard freestyle event.

On a different note, Irvine High School’s Cozy Zimmerman has committed to play beach volleyball at Concordia University Irvine. With an impressive indoor volleyball career under her belt and having helped her school win a Pacific Coast League crown, Cozy made the transition to beach volleyball three years ago and was part of Irvine High’s inaugural team this season.

Northwood High School’s baseball team is optimistic about their current season in the Pacific Coast League. With a successful streak of 12 wins out of 16 league games, Northwood is currently competing against Beckman for the league title. The team attributes their success to outstanding starting pitching from players like Paul Grossman and Casey Euper, timely hitting from junior Carter Liu, and solid defense. Both Grossman and Euper have made commitments to prestigious universities, signaling a promising future for the team as they continue through the CIF playoffs.
