White House Celebrates Women’s Sports: President Biden and Vice President Harris Welcome WNBA Champions Las Vegas Aces

On Thursday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris welcomed the Las Vegas Aces to the White House to celebrate their WNBA championship win. The celebration took place in the East Room of the White House, with both leaders stressing the importance of supporting women’s sports in the nation.

President Biden called it a “banner year” for women’s basketball and emphasized the importance of representation for girls and women in sports. He received a jersey from the winning team and excitedly held it up, exclaiming, “Put me in, Coach, I’m ready to play!” Vice President Kamala Harris praised the team for playing with joy and being role models both on and off the court, calling them an inspiration to people in the United States and around the world.

The Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA championship by defeating the New York Liberty in October, securing their second consecutive title. This victory marked a significant achievement for women’s basketball and highlighted the importance of women’s sports in American society. The White House celebration underscored the value of supporting and recognizing the accomplishments of female athletes.
