WHEELING – With rain set to roll via the region this weekend, the Wheeling University softball team’s Mountain East Conference opener came a small earlier than anticipated.

The Cardinals (four-16, two-) hosted Alderson Broaddus on Thursday afternoon and came away with their 1st doubleheader sweep of the year. They won the 1st game 7-three and followed it up with a sturdy pitching functionality to total the sweep with a three- win.

The Cardinals opened the day with the exact same offensive achievement that they ended Wednesday’s doubleheader with as they took the lead early.
