Westfield introduces Ting smart home technology to prevent electrical fires

Westfield, a property and casualty company based in the US, is taking a proactive approach to prevent home electrical fires with its new Ting program. The program utilizes advanced smart plug-in sensors to monitor a home’s electrical network, detect hazards, alert homeowners, and guide them through necessary repairs to prevent fires.

In partnership with Whisker Labs, Westfield is offering the Ting sensor and three years of fire prevention services for free to its customers. This initiative is part of Westfield’s commitment to providing peace of mind to homeowners and preventing potential disasters like home fires.

Ting, as a smart home technology, is designed to give homeowners advanced warnings of potential fire hazards, detect electrical faults in the utility grid, and predict issues that could lead to water damage. This proactive approach aims to mitigate risks and prevent catastrophic losses.

Westfield plans to provide the fire hazard sensor and services to 10,000 homeowners at no cost this year, with intentions to expand the program to an additional 20,000+ homeowners over the next three years. With a 176-year history of offering insurance products and solutions to protect customers and communities, Westfield is continuing its mission by embracing new technology like Ting to enhance safety and security for homeowners.
