Vietnam’s Path to Innovation: Empowering Young People and Celebrating Creativity”.

The United Nations representative in Vietnam, Ms. Paluline Tamesis, has emphasized the importance of targeting innovators and young people to promote creativity in order to make Vietnam a regional innovation center. She made these remarks at the 2024 World Creativity and Innovation Day response ceremony organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Ms. Tamesis commended Vietnam for its progress and potential, as evidenced by its ranking on the global innovation index (GII), and highlighted the importance of creativity in achieving development goals. She stressed that creativity is not limited to scientists but also includes young people and ethnic minority groups, and encouraged empowering young people in STEM fields.

Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat also spoke about Vietnam’s transition to a growth model based on science, technology, and innovation. He outlined three key tasks to promote creativity and innovation, including raising awareness about their role in socio-economic development, developing a national innovation system, and launching innovation activities in 2024. This ceremony marked the third year that the Ministry of Science and Technology organized an event to respond to World Creativity and Innovation Day, with the aim of raising awareness and promoting innovation activities.

The event included a scientific conference on innovation activities and creative startups, discussing the current status of innovation in Vietnamese businesses, policies for ecosystem development, and tools for measuring innovation at the industry level. This focus on promoting creativity and innovation among young people and businesses is essential for Vietnam to continue to grow as a center for innovation in the region.
