The Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, announced on Monday that the dialogue process with the US government will resume next Wednesday. This comes after two months of negotiations and proposals from the US. Maduro stated that he has accepted to continue talks in order to find a solution to the issues between the two countries.
The focus of these negotiations will be on the US complying with agreements signed in Qatar and establishing dialogue based on respect without manipulation. Maduro emphasized the importance of conducting public dialogues without speculation and expressed his desire for understanding and future changes in relations between Venezuela and the US while upholding their sovereignty and independence.
Maduro appointed representatives for Venezuela in this dialogue process, including President Jorge Rodriguez and Governor Hector Rodriguez. Talks between Venezuela and the US have been on and off since March 2022, with agreements reached including partial lifting of US sanctions against Venezuela. However, issues arose when Venezuela failed to comply with agreements, leading to the reversal of sanctions relief. The upcoming negotiations aim to address these issues and seek new agreements for both countries.
Overall, Maduro’s announcement is a positive step towards resolving conflicts between Venezuela and the US through diplomatic means.
