US Navy Escapes Unscathed as Iranian-Backed Terrorists Launch Missile Attack in Gulf of Aden

On April 24, the US Army Central Command (Centcom) reported that Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists launched an anti-ship ballistic missile towards an American ship and warship. Fortunately, there were no damages or casualties. The missile was believed to be aimed at the US-flagged MV Yorktown, which had 18 American and four Greek crew members on board. Additionally, the military successfully destroyed four drones that the Houthis had launched at the American destroyer. Centcom stated that these weapons posed an imminent threat to merchant and US Navy vessels, and action was taken to protect navigation freedom and enhance safety in international waters for the US Navy and merchant vessels.

This incident marked the first Houthi attack since April 14, when Yemeni militants were involved in a significant attack on Israel orchestrated by Iran. The actions taken by the US military were aimed at safeguarding against future threats and ensuring the security of maritime activities in the region. The US continues to monitor and respond to threats posed by hostile groups and nations in order to protect its interests and those of its allies in the region.
