UNESCO Designation of Inform es-Sultan as Planet Heritage Internet site Ignites Israeli Outrage

The United Nations Planet Heritage Committee has declared the Inform es-Sultan archaeological internet site in Jericho a “World Heritage Internet site in Palestine.” This selection was created at a conference in Riyadh, according to UNESCO. The announcement was met with approval from the Palestinian Authority, when Israel expressed anger more than the selection.

The newly designated internet site, situated in Jericho in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, consists of ancient ruins dating back to the ninth millennium BCE. Jericho itself is regarded a single of the oldest constantly inhabited cities in the globe.

In response to the selection, the Palestinian Authority Foreign Affairs Ministry released a statement on Sunday praising the recognition of Jericho’s cultural, financial, and political significance. They also highlighted the site’s ten,000 years of human improvement.
