UNC Health and UnitedHealthcare Sign Long-Term Agreement to Ensure Continued Access to Quality Care for Thousands of North Carolina Patients

Dr. Matt Ewend, chief clinical officer at UNC Health, announced that the organization has signed a long-term agreement with UnitedHealthcare, ensuring that thousands of North Carolina patients will continue to receive treatment at UNC clinics and hospitals without any disruptions. This news comes after the previous contract was set to expire on April 1st, and it covers patients under United’s commercial, Individual Exchange, and Medicare Advantage plans.

The new agreement follows a similar long-term contract recently announced with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Negotiations between UNC Health and UnitedHealthcare began last year and were successful in reaching a deal this week. This agreement is good news for patients across the state who will avoid increased costs and the stress of going out of network or finding new providers for their care.

UNC Health is committed to providing quality care and maintaining strong relationships with insurance providers for the benefit of their patients. As such, they are working to communicate this news to patients under UnitedHealthcare to reassure them that their UNC providers will remain the same. The organization is dedicated to ensuring that their patients have access to the best possible care and are grateful for their partnership with UnitedHealthcare in achieving this goal.
