UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti received 14.4 million Swiss francs for his nine months of work in 2022, making him the highest-paid banker in Europe. He took on the role of CEO to oversee the merger of Credit Suisse after serving as its leader for nine years. In contrast, his predecessor Ralph Hamers earned 12.6 million francs for a full year of work in 2021.
According to UBS’s annual report, Ermotti’s compensation was equivalent to 14.7 million euros and placed him at the top of the list of highest-paid bankers in Europe. For comparison, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon earned $36 million in the same year, making him the highest-paid banker in the US.
