A total of 896,000 new companies registered in the Emirates, with 96,000 added in the first half of the year.

The total number of active licenses for companies in the United Arab Emirates increased by 12% during the first half of 2024, reaching a total of 896 thousand companies compared to about 800 thousand at the end of 2023. Limited liability companies experienced the most growth, with an increase of 7.6%, while sole proprietorships saw a smaller increase of just 3%. One-person companies also experienced significant growth, with a jump of 21%. Additionally, local company branches, branches of companies from another emirate, and private joint-stock companies all saw increases in the number of licenses.

The Ministry of Economy’s National Economic Registry highlights the positive trend in the growth of companies in the UAE. The number of free zone establishments reached a new high of 3,455 companies, while local establishments’ branches also saw an increase in licenses. Professional business companies and branches of foreign companies also experienced growth. Public joint stock company licenses increased by just four, reaching a total of 670.
