The Yard Birds shopping center, which has been vacant for years, is facing losses as the free giveaway and clearing out process continues. One of the businesses that was located in the mall, BnT’s American Treasures, suffered a break-in over the weekend when someone physically unbolted the gate of their trailer and took it off its hinges.
The theft occurred sometime after noon on Saturday, leaving Blake and Cory McDrummond without their daily trailer that they used for various purposes related to their estate and retail store cleaning business. The trailer was described as a 14-foot dual axle with side racks and metal stakes.
Despite efforts to clear out the building for potential sale, Darris McDaniel, the owner of Yard Birds, did not allow anyone inside due to liability concerns. Instead, items from the mall are being placed outside along the walls of the structure. Some of these items include personal belongings of the McDrummonds that they had not yet removed after the mall’s closure in 2022.
A police report has been filed for the stolen trailer, and a reward is being offered for any information leading to its recovery. Tana McDrummond, who reached out to the community for help in retrieving the trailer, can be contacted through her Facebook page. The giveaway at Yard Birds is ongoing, with new items being added daily.
