A fire broke out in a strip mall on Michigan Road in Carmel early Thursday morning, resulting in one person dead and another injured. The Carmel Fire Department responded to the blaze at 3:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of N. Michigan Road. Unfortunately, a man was found dead inside the building, and another person was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with fire-related injuries. Additionally, a Carmel firefighter sustained minor injuries while battling the flames.
As a result of the fire, Michigan Road near 96th Street was closed in both directions for safety reasons. Tim Griffin, Public Information Officer at Carmel Fire Department, expressed condolences to the families and businesses affected by the tragedy. Griffin also assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire. Carmel Fire Department is dedicated to providing answers and support to those impacted by this unfortunate incident.
