The second round of the Asian qualifiers for WC 2026 was marked by several exciting matches. In Group C, South Korea emerged victorious against China with a final score of 3-0. The Korean team’s standout player was Tottenham striker Son Heung-min, who scored twice and assisted a third goal.
In Group B, Japan took home the victory against Syria with a score of 5-0. Meanwhile, North Korea secured their first win of the campaign in this group by beating Myanmar 6-1. The Thais also managed to defeat Singapore in this group with Suphanat Mueanta scoring twice.
Australia celebrated away to Palestine with a 1-0 Harry Souttar goal in the 18th minute, while Bangladesh and Lebanon played out a very high-quality match that ended in a tie.
In Group F, Iraq emerged victorious over hosts Vietnam with a final score of 1-0, thanks to Mohanad Ali’s late goal in stoppage time. In this same group, the Philippines and Indonesia drew 1-1.
In Group E, Hong Kong came back twice to draw 2-2 with Turkmenistan, while Uzbekistan and Iran played out a close match that ended in a tie. The Iranians led early on but were eventually saved from defeat by Urunov and Sergejev.
Finally, Tajikistan emerged victorious over Pakistan in Group G with a final score of 6-1. Branko Ivanković’s Oman was defeated near Kyrgyzstan with a score of 1-0
