
In Week 5 of the 2023 season, several high school athletes in the Memphis area delivered standout performances in fall sports. In volleyball, Kendall Narcisse from Covington had an impressive showing with 15 kills and 18 digs in a hard-fought victory against White Station. Alliyah Potapenko from Lausanne also shined with seven kills, six blocks, and four aces in a win over Harding Academy. Covington’s Kathryn Connell and McKayla Scott contributed to their team’s success with 22 and 15 digs respectively, in addition to Connell’s six aces and Scott’s eight kills. Lausanne’s Ashari Jenkins and Kinney Boyd made significant contributions as well, with Jenkins recording 11 kills and Boyd tallying 43 digs, in a victorious match against Harding Academy. Tatum Sage from Covington showcased her skills with 26 assists and 15 digs in a thrilling victory against White Station. Shanella Rogers and Ava McCalla, also from Covington, made valuable contributions with eight and six kills respectively in the same match.
On the girls’ soccer front, Maria Bair from St. Benedict scored three goals to lead her team to a 4-1 victory over Lakeland Prep. In boys’ golf, Zach Olsen from Houston clinched the medalist honors with a score of 35, as his team emerged victorious with a score of 154 against Arlington’s 166 at Pine Hill. In girls’ golf, Mathile Walker and Claire Todd shared the honors as co-medalists, each shooting a score of 37, helping their team from ECS secure a five-stroke victory over St. Benedict at Timber Truss. Other participating teams in the match were St. George’s, Westminster Academy, and Lausanne. Sophie Christopher from Houston was another top performer, winning medalist honors with a score of 34 in her team’s victory against Arlington at Pine Hill.
