The Growth of the Meta App

Meta’s microblogging platform Threads has achieved a milestone of 175 million monthly active users, one year after its launch in the United States and subsequent expansion to Europe. The app, known as Hilos in some regions, provides a space for users to share ideas and creativity through short text posts, reminiscent of its competitor X (previously Twitter).

Initially released for iOS and Android devices, Threads operates independently from Instagram, with similarities in features and functionality. Despite facing challenges in complying with privacy regulations, the app eventually launched in Europe in December. Offering capabilities such as text posts, link sharing, photos, videos, and reposting, Threads has introduced new features like saving favorite posts, storing drafts, real-time search filters, and direct messaging.

Meta has expanded the platform with a desktop application for Windows computers and trending topics to keep users informed on popular discussions. The rapid growth of Threads has surpassed milestones of 30 million and 100 million users within days of its availability. Despite its comparison to Twitter, Meta emphasizes its goal of creating a public space for communities on Instagram that were not present on other social networks.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that Threads has reached over 175 million monthly active users, marking a significant achievement for the platform. As the app continues to evolve and expand
