In 2023, Humane, a tech company founded by former Apple executives and designers, introduced the Humane AI Pin to the US market with high expectations. The device, a screen-free wearable powered by generative artificial intelligence, was first showcased at Paris Fashion Week and received widespread attention.
However, when American journalists got their hands on the product, it fell short of expectations. Critics like David Pierce from The Verge and YouTuber Marques Brownlee expressed strong disapproval of the device. Complaints about overheating, latency, and missing features have plagued the $699 device, which also requires a $24 monthly subscription.
Despite Humane AI’s claims that the device will improve over time, doubts remain. The layoff of employees just before the launch has raised concerns about the company’s ability to deliver on its promises. The AI Pin is currently only available in the US with no announced release date for Europe. Critics have dubbed it as “the worst product” and “the solution to none of tech’s problems.”
Overall, the reception of the Humane AI Pin in the US market has been less than favorable, with many experts questioning its usability and value for consumers.
