At The Mall at Greece Ridge, Wilmorite is implementing new technology to combat shoplifting. This proactive approach includes cameras that read license plates to identify vehicles linked to previous theft incidents. When a known shoplifter attempts to re-enter the property, an alert is sent to both the mall security office and the police station.
The technology has already been successful at Eastview Mall in Victor, where it increased the number of shoplifting arrests by 45%. According to Al D’Agostino, vice president and corporate security director at Wilmorite, the cameras not only help identify known shoplifters but also provide valuable footage and pictures that can be turned over to the police for further investigation and resolution of the issue.
In addition to the technology, there is a Greece police officer assigned to The Mall at Greece Ridge, along with two Ontario County sheriff’s deputies assigned to Eastview Mall. This collaborative effort between mall security and law enforcement ensures a swift response to any incidents that may occur. By utilizing advanced technology and maintaining a strong partnership with local law enforcement, Wilmorite is committed to providing a safe and secure shopping experience for visitors at their malls.
