The Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, the final laboratory of famed scientist Nikola Tesla in Shoreham, was engulfed in flames on Tuesday night. Suffolk police confirmed that the fire was reported at 4:49 p.m. at the corner of Tesla and Robinson streets.

Dozens of firefighters across multiple departments were working tirelessly to put out the fire, which had already spread throughout the main building on the site. Flames were seen leaping out of the northeast portion of the building just below the famous peak.

Firefighters arrived on site an hour later and continued to battle the blaze as they tried to contain it before it could spread further. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but investigations are ongoing.
