Swiss team has to change training pitch due to ‘dead grass’

Stuttgarter Kickers, a regional league club, call Stadion auf der Waldau their home stadium. Images from Getty Images show the stadium’s unique design and lively atmosphere. However, Switzerland has faced an unexpected change in their preparations for their Euro 2024 group game against Scotland due to the state of their training pitch at the Stadion auf der Waldau.

As a result, Bundesliga club Stuttgart has stepped in to provide temporary training facilities while Uefa works to fix the issue at the training pitch. The Swiss FA has explained that the pitch has deteriorated, with dead roots in several areas. In response, the national team will be using the VFB Stuttgart training pitch at Robert-Schlienz-Stadion for their training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday leading up to the game against Scotland.

Despite the unexpected change in plans, Switzerland is adapting to the situation and making necessary adjustments to ensure they are prepared for their upcoming match. Once the match with Scotland is over, they plan to return to training at the Stadion auf der Waldau. However, the condition of the new grass there will need to be assessed on Thursday to ensure it is suitable for training moving forward.
