The Association for Environmental Research and Sciences (AESS) lately awarded Professor Lisa Powell, the AESS Early Profession Award. This prestigious award, established in 2010, recognizes men and women who have produced substantial contributions to teaching, analysis, policy, or activism in the field of environmental science and research. The Early Profession Award especially honors men and women who are inside the initial ten years of their existing profession and have shown outstanding accomplishments and promising future possible. The AESS aims to honor these who have produced noteworthy contributions to understanding, neighborhood, and diversity in the field of environmental research and science.
Professor Lisa Powell received this recognition for the duration of the annual AESS conference held in July 2023. Inside Sweet Briar College, Professor Powell holds several positions like the STEM Division Head, Director of the Center for Human and Environmental Sustainability, and Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Agriculture. Her part as the Director of the Center for Human and Environmental Sustainability makes it possible for her to collaborate with students, faculty, employees, and surrounding communities on sustainability initiatives. Also, she oversees the academic and neighborhood-focused elements of SBC’s agricultural regions such as the greenhouse, apiary, vineyard, garden, and forests. As a researcher, Professor Powell explores a wide variety of queries relating to human-atmosphere relationships, with a unique concentrate on meals systems, policy, land use, and education.
Upon getting the AESS Early Profession Award, Professor Powell expressed her gratitude and acknowledged the development, innovation, and general strength of the environmental science plan and sustainability initiatives at Sweet Briar College. She credits the collaboration and dedication of the faculty, employees, and students for the good results of these applications.
