England all-rounder Ben Stokes has revealed that he had planned to reverse his selection to retire from a single-day cricket through the Ashes series. Stokes, who retired from ODIs final year due to his heavy workload, stated that he had ruled out a comeback to divert media consideration away from his prospective return. Regardless of previously citing a knee injury as the explanation for not returning to the ODI squad, Stokes created a gorgeous comeback in the third ODI against New Zealand, scoring 182 off 124 balls. He clarified that his preceding comments about his knee have been just a tactic to retain the media guessing.
