Spotify trials video-based courses as part of new content format

Spotify is currently testing a new content option with UK users that offers video-based courses on various topics such as music creation, business, and healthy living. The platform currently provides access to music, podcasts, and audiobooks, with new subscription options like audiobooks in the United States. They are now exploring the introduction of video content, such as adding music videos for songs in the Premium version of Spotify.

Spotify has partnered with educational technology companies like BBC Maestro, PLAYvirtuoso, Skillshare, and Thinkific to offer video-based courses on different topics. These courses cover topics in music, creativity, business, and health. Users can access two free lessons per course during the test period, with the option to purchase full access to all lessons on the platform’s website.

Courses will be available in the Home and Browse tabs where users can explore different categories and purchase courses for full access on both desktop and mobile. This expansion of content options allows users to explore different topics and enhance their skills in a convenient and accessible way. By offering educational creators a new audience for their video content, Spotify is working to provide a diverse range of content to its users while adding value to its offerings.
