This Thursday, November 23, the thirteenth edition of the ABC Salud awards will be presented at the Casa de ABC. The recipients of this year’s awards are a microbiologist, Francis J. Mojica, who has made significant contributions to the development of genetic editing in medicine, and advances in mental health, fetal surgery, and data management for patients.
The jury that selected these winners was exceptional and chaired by former Minister of Health Ana Pastor. The jurors included representatives from various organizations involved in healthcare such as the National Transplant Organization (ONT), the Carlos III Health Institute, the General Council of Official Medical Associations, and many others.
The 2023 winners include a range of projects that have had a significant impact on healthcare. These include research by a microbiologist that has revolutionized medicine through genetic editing techniques. Janssen’s new fast-acting antidepressant has also been recognized for its potential to improve mental health treatment options. Additionally, there was an outstanding clinical history project in private healthcare that demonstrated innovative approaches to patient care. A pediatric transplantation project and a mental health awareness campaign were also recognized for their contributions to improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Another highlight was an oncological hyper-early diagnosis and prevention unit that has helped identify cancer at an early stage when it is more treatable. Lastly, a foundation dedicated to improving the health conditions of vulnerable populations was honored for its work in promoting equity and accessibility in healthcare services.
