Community to Witness Unveiling of Cutting-Edge Technology at Shriners Children’s Shreveport

The Robinson Foundation, established in 2021 by Alex and Monica Robinson, is a philanthropic organization that focuses on supporting charities that promote social equity and justice through education, knowledge, health, and opportunity. With a commitment to leveraging technological advancements to further their mission, the foundation has chosen Shriners Children’s Shreveport as one of their beneficiaries.

This decision was based on the facility’s innovative use of advanced motion capture technology to analyze gait patterns and provide care for children with various pediatric orthopedic conditions. Thanks to a generous donation of $500,000 from the Robinson Foundation, Shriners Children’s Shreveport was able to upgrade its motion capture system to a cutting-edge setup featuring 14 cameras, including the latest Vicon Valkyre cameras. These new cameras boast the ability to capture 20 times more frames per second and deliver a four-fold increase in image quality compared to the facility’s previous system. Additionally, the facility now stands out as the first in the region to incorporate a Theia markerless motion capture system alongside the new camera setup. This markerless technology eliminates the need for traditional reflective marker balls, offering increased flexibility to cater to the needs of patients.

To enhance the high-tech atmosphere of the motion analysis lab, the Robinson Foundation’s donation also enabled the facility to adorn its walls with eye-catching, spaceship-themed graphics. This design theme adds an overall aesthetic appeal to lab and will be unveiled for
