Discover the fascinating world of sharks at The Science Mill with engaging STEM-related activities.

The Science Mill in Johnson City is hosting Shark Week this summer, providing an opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about these fascinating creatures. The event will take place from July 20-21 and July 23-28 (closed on July 22).

During Shark Week, young scientists can explore the world of sharks through hands-on activities that focus on STEM. They will learn about the ocean’s apex predator, their environmental impact, and careers related to studying and protecting sharks. Highlights of the event include shark and squid dissections, a shark game show, special guest Matt “The Shark Guy” Marchant, sharks on shore, and color-changing squids.

The Science Mill is a museum that focuses on teaching families about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Since its opening in 2015, the museum has aimed to provide STEM programs and interactive exhibits to people of all economic statuses and locations.

The Science Mill is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Visitors can check the website or call in advance for daily activities and purchase tickets online or at the door. Walk-ins are also welcome
