The Insurance coverage and Actual Estate Committee hit a roadblock Tuesday when Sen. Matt Lesser, D-Middletown, spent various hours questioning Committee Co-Chair Rep. Kerry Wood, D-Rocky Hill, more than Property Bill 6710, which would permit trade associations to offer you significant group wellness plans to their members.

The bill would make obtainable a new, potentially much more reasonably priced insurance coverage choice for compact companies and nonprofits, and it has bipartisan assistance. But the legislation has met with powerful opposition from patient advocates concerned that such plans could destabilize the insurance coverage marketplace and might discriminate against men and women with illness or injuries.

Lesser in the end wrapped up his queries right after he stated he spoke offline to Gov. Ned Lamont’s employees, who provided to “mediate” more than issues he’d raised. The committee passed the bill (Lesser voted “no”) it now proceeds to the Property.
