Sanofi to Cut 99 Jobs in Ghent and Diegem as Part of Global Restructuring Effort Focused on Immunology

Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company, is planning to cut 99 jobs at its sites in Ghent and Diegem as part of a global restructuring effort. The company has confirmed the information, stating that 67 jobs are targeted in Ghent and 32 at the head office in Diegem. Sanofi employs around 1,600 people in Belgium and says the restructuring is necessary to modernize its organization and become a global player in immunology.

The company is focusing on developing new vaccines and drugs in immunology that can make a significant impact on patient care. Sanofi has twelve new medicines and vaccines in clinical development that show promise for treating immune-related diseases. As a result, some early-stage research activities in Ghent will be discontinued. Sanofi is exploring all possible solutions for employees affected by the job cuts.

On another front, solar battery technology plays a crucial role in storing energy generated by solar panels for later use, while photovoltaic cells convert sunlight into electricity. Both technologies are vital components of the transition to renewable energy sources and reducing carbon emissions. In 2024, the demand for these technologies is expected to continue growing as countries strive to meet their sustainability goals.
